Air sealing

We’re big fans of the fall weather here at Green Stone Energy. After all, fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Southeast PA, with foliage drawing large numbers of visitors and residents taking the time to relax and unwind after a long summer. While fall is certainly a time for reflection, it’s also the time to think about the cooler temperatures that are ahead, as well as whether or not your home is ready for them.

Many people wait until it’s already cold outside to address issues that can affect home comfort and their heating bills, which is never a wise route to take. More often than not, the solution to winter heat loss is air sealing your home. Our team is here to help.

What is Air Sealing?

At first inspection, your home most likely appears to be draft-free, ready to deal with whatever elements the winter months might bring. Take a slightly closer look, however, and it often becomes apparent that tiny cracks and gaps pervade the home. These cracks and gaps allow unwanted airflow to occur, an issue that not only lets your conditioned air escape, but also lets dirty, cold outside air enter the home. The end result is typically some combination of poor indoor air quality, unstable temperatures and an overall lack of home comfort.

Where is Air Sealing Necessary?

There are a number of areas scattered throughout homes and commercial buildings that can benefit from air sealing, including:

  • Doors

  • Ducts

  • Recessed Lighting

  • Fireplaces

  • Walls
